Skillbo, Rich, and Brady wake to find themselves in a dank, dark room that none of them recognize. While they all share in the initial fuzz of a headache from which Rich and Brady are able to easily recover, Skillbo continues to suffer through his headache for several hours.
As they begin to piece together their stories, each member of the group realizes they don’t remember how they got to this room, or how they met. Then, a radio broadcast catches them by surprise from the radio in the room. They were alerted to the fact that it is no longer 2016 as they all believed, but in fact 2018. Somehow they had all lost their memory of the last 2 years and they cannot reconcile how.
The group begins to explore their surroundings to discover they were barricaded inside a supply closet of a retail space. They find some useful supplies and explore the rest of the building. Doing this, they provoke the attention of two decomposing, infected creatures. They look to have been humans once, but no longer. The fight against these creatures is easily won, though they prove more difficult to fully exterminate than anyone anticipated.
After thorough exploration of the remaining building, Rich discovers an office space on the far end of the warehouse. The office seemed to have been in use at some point after Event 0, as he discovers a ledger of names, and a journal that seemed to contain the records of supply runs, both with symbols he didn’t recognize. Rich decides to tuck these away, and does not share his discovery with Brady or Skillbo.
As the group exits the building, they see something quit unexpected. The parking lot has been fully enclosed with semi-truck trailers. On the ground of the parking lot is spray painted a symbol that none of them recognize. Thinking this to surely be the work of a large group, they begin to wonder who could have done this, and how they ended up here.
As they thoroughly search the rest of the outside of the building, they discover the rear of the complex has been equally barricaded. As the day is approaching a close, the group decides to gain access to the roof and camp for the night.
During the first watch, Brady sees a flashlight moving around the parking lot of the mall complex across the street. He relays the information to Rich, who takes second watch. During his shift, a horde of infected at least 100 strong exits the building adjacent to them.
In the morning, they decide to make their way to the mall complex down the street. They rush past the infected crowding the parking lot to find the entrance doors open, and go inside. They can see a large pile of bodies, seemingly the newly infected and burned bodies of those who once inhabited this complex.
They meet a woman named Soriah, who has been deprived of human contact for too long, and is very difficult to reason with. She seems to blame Skillbo for the fall of the complex, and says it happened probably 2 weeks ago. Eventually, they are able to calm her by giving her direct instructions for simple tasks. She gets a call on her walkie-talkie from call sign Red Original. She identifies him as a man named Deckar.
When Deckar arrives, he did not know that the complex had fallen. He reveals that this was a Syndicate strong hold, and he is a member of The Syndicate with a very special mission. He describes a group of infected he calls The Originals. A dangerous Behemoth with unnatural bone growths, accompanied by 14 exceedingly tall Others. He believes them to be Patient 0 and the medical staff from the facility that created the cure.
And then as abruptly as he arrived, Deckar is gone. He leaves a pack with a map and note addressed specifically to “Serg” Brady.
What will the group do next? Follow Deckar in an attempt to learn answers about the mysterious Syndicate? Or will they make their own way in this dangerous new world?
